Rotonde de la Villette Design

Canal St-Martin went underground again in the place de la Bataille de Stalingrad, which is dominated by the Neoclassical Rotonde de la Villette, with a porch and pediments overcome by a rotunda. This is one of the toll house was designed by the architect Ledoux as part of the scheme of Louis XVI tax all goods entering the city. At that moment, every road out of town heading to customs, or Barriere, connected by a wall of six-meter-high, known as "Le Mur des Fermiers-Généraux" - a major irritant in the term-up to the French Revolution. Backing the toll house is an elegant air strain métro, Neoclassical and supported by iron pillars.http://images.france-for-visitors.com/images/large/rotonde-de-la-villette.jpghttp://www2.ac-lyon.fr/etab/colleges/col-01/ladombes/test_baroque_classique/arch-ledoux-Rotonde_de_la_Villette_Paris.jpg
